He does quite well on a leash, I think from his puppy and doggy obedience classes, but I don't normally put one on unless I'm around small children (he goes nuts around children, like all Newfoundlands, and he's so big he could easily, accidentally hurt them). But a woman with a baby carriage and two small children were coming our way so I put on his leash. And this is his frequent response. He throws himself on the ground, rolling around, making weird sounds, and always grabs the leash in his mouth. It's quite a display and it goes on for several minutes. I've had several people ask me if there was something wrong with him... like a brain defect. I always assure them that he's perfectly safe, just very exuberant! He really doesn't want to be on a leash and he spends so much time in the woods off-leash, he rebels. This is Sailor's reaction to having a leash put on him!
