It's also not unprecedented, or for that matter even unusual, to find a bicycle in the gents. It's far bigger than it needs to be and is located in a place that makes it convenient to park a bike in. It makes sense when you know the building. In this day and age bikes are amazing machines. A new bike now will have some magic superlight frame, carbon spokes, disc brakes, sprung and shock absorbed suspension and never less than ten million gears. This venerable Royal Enfield was like a breath of fresh air. Heavy, welded tubular steel for the frame. Side pull caliper rim brakes. White walled tyres. And best of all the magical classic of classics - the shiny three speed Sturmey Archer hub. Familiar to a generation of seventies kids as the gearbox of choice in the Raleigh Grifter and Chopper (and possibly even in the weird Mk 2 Vektar). It was proof that for all the pose value of a fancy gearing system you only REALLY needed three. Happy times. :) On making a call of nature today I found this beastie in the gents!
