Did I tell you that there are 39 steps from bottom to top? A fabulous co-incidence. Wouldn't you know, after making it into work after four months off I've gone and caught a bloody cold or something. I've got a throat that feels like I'm swallowing golf balls, but I guess I'll get over it. Not much to report today, as I went out to get some work clothes with Dave and then visited Megan in hospital (I wasn't feeling that bad then, honest!). Having spectacularly failed to take a photo of anything, I've grabbed this print at the top of the stairs that I put up after Laura put it in the frame today. It's this year's print of the RAFAT Hawk, sporting the signatures of all of this year's pilots (yes, all of them). That's quite appropriate given that today was the funeral of Jon 'Eggman' Egging. The service was at his local church in Rutland. The Reds were of course all attending, meaning that they weren't able to perform a flyover. In a very touching display of airmanship, social media appears to be reporting that this particular ceremonial duty was carried out by the pilots of the Patrouille de France, who flew in missing man formation over Rutland. Maybe respect really is international. Let's hope the day brings some opportunity for some closure. Yes, this is literally the top of our stairs.
