Yesterday Laura and I were driving along Oakfield Road on our way back from Aintree, and we both heard something that sounded an awful lot like a Hawk jet. Sadly, neither of us really caught sight of the beast, though I got the most fleeting of fleeting glimpses. Such was the feeling of denial, coupled with the fact that we're both off on a weekday, that today we drove up to RAF Valley to see some in the wild. It was a lovely smooth drive both ways, and there was plenty of traffic at the airfield, including both light and heavy helicopters. We reached the point where we were both happy to call it a day and we headed towards the car. At this point I said to Laura "of course the second you put the camera away we're going to have a C130 flying with accompanied by four hawks in formation". That wasn't quite what happened, but we did get the very late closing treat of these three hawks in a synchronised formation take off. Very nice flying indeed. :) ...you wait for ages then three come along at once!
