Sadly, as she was lifting the lid she got struck by a steam vent, which I'm sure drew an oath or two and the subsequent dropping of the glass pan lid. Kitchen breakages are inevitable, and we shrug them off, though this one drew an internal tear. Firstly, the lid was green glass, which always struck me as a little oddball. The second thing I loved was the product brand name: Happy Baron. It just seems so delightfully ridiculous, clearly born in the days of exploding Chinese manufacturing before they employed English speaking advertising agencies. It's cheesy and I love it. To my astonishment though, I see that Happy Baron products are still in manufacture and are imported into Europe through an agency in Amsterdam. Remarkable.
