We recently deployed Hester-Dendy (H-D) artificial substrate samplers upstream and downstream of the bridge at Highway 41. This effort is to look at the possible effects of contaminants, from bridge run-off during rain events, on the benthic invertebrate community downstream of this major highway bridge. After six weeks, the samplers will be collected, preserved, and analyzed for benthic invertebrate colonization. Both the USGS and the U.S. Forest Service monitor the stream.
