An aviation enthusiast from childhood, his many achievements included Army Signal Corps Aviation Editor, Aviation Editor for Hearst's Oakland Post-Enquirer, and Oakland Chamber of Commerce Aviation Development. In his early years he located the remains of John J. Montgomery's controllable aircraft in the attic at Santa Clara University. Mr. Waldorf participated in many notable flights and interviewed the great and near-great. He and his wife, Dolores, an aerobatic pilot, member of the '"99" Club and founder of the Monarch Flying Service, aided aviation from it's pioneer days to the Concorde.
