Blue-spot Mantis Haptosquilla stoliura occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific in shallow coastal or nearshore reefs in tidal pools and among hard coral fragments in the intertidal area. The iridescent blue patch on the first maxillipeds is distinctive. The max. length of this species seems to be incertain. Some indicate 6.5cm as max. length, others 11.5cm. The length of this specimen is probably 10cm. \nThe ability of Mantis species to see circularly polarised light has led to studies to determine if the mechanisms by which their eyes operate can be replicated for use in reading optical information storage devices. \nTriton Bay, West Papua Province, Indonesia, \n3°54'41.05 S 134°7'18.205 E at 15m depth

Oriental Slipper Lobster or Flathead Lobster Thenus orientalis occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific from the east coast of Africa (southern Red Sea to Natal) to China, southern Japan and the northern coast of Australia in a depth range from 8 to 100m, usually 10 to 50m, max. total body length 28cm. Breeding and molting occurs throughout the year, with alternating peaks for molting and reproduction. \nLobsters are among the most priced seafood delicacies enjoying a special demand in international markets. Scyllarid lobsters represent a notable portion of global lobster production. However the prices of slipper lobsters are usually lower than those of local spiny lobsters; this is the case in the Philippines, where the price of Thenus orientalis is lower than that of spiny lobsters. \nThis specimen was encountered in the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°28'47.196 N 125°14'12.42 E at 15m depth by night

Grasshoppers are a group of insects belonging to the suborder Caelifera. They are among what is probably the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic around 250 million years ago.
The Blue Spiny Lobster Panulirus versicolor is a species of spiny lobster that occurs in the shallow tropical waters of the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean, mostly in a depth range from 0-40m sometimes much deeper, max. length 40cm. \n\nThe species has no claws, two spiny rostra over the eyes, and two pairs of large antennae, like all spiny lobsters. Panulirus versicolor is nocturnal and solitary, in daytime hiding in small caves and crevices in reefs or under coral. \n\nThe species is carnivore, eating both carrion and fresh caught arthropods, other crustaceans, occasional small fish. \n\nTwo species of Cardinalfish are there: Narrowlined Cardinalfish Taeniamia fucata and Spurcheek Cardinalfish Pristapogon fraenatus. \n\nTriton Bay, Indonesia, \n3°51'36.5976 S 133°58'17.5512 E at 8m depth
