Held together with wooden poles, the woollen felt & canvas covered gers can be packed up & moved quickly & easily. They are set up in different livestock grazing areas depending on the season. They are home to families who live together in remote locations, moving each season. An ornately carved door and patterned fabric along the bottom of the ger gives a personal touch to the temporary home.

West Mongolia is an incredible harsh place to live. Population in this part of the country is even more sparse than in other areas of Mongolia. Gers are the traditional constructions used by the nomads in Mongolia and Central Asia.

This image was captured in Mongolia on a recent trip there. Mongolia is a beautifully unique country with extremely friendly people and incredible landscapes.
